Sr. Handgames
This is an annual guessing game takes place every spring with participants over the age of thirty.
Handgames are a guessing game where two teams compete to take all of their competitors bones. The Handgames on the Crow reservation are similar to competitions among other Native peoples across the Americas. The first Handgames competition of a modern iteration on the Crow reservation took place in 1967 and continued each April since. The Handgames competition on the Crow reservation are divided into two age groups. Those under thirty compete in Juniors, while those over thirty compete in the Senior Level. Furthermore, there are teams from each of the six Crow reservation districts, the Northern Cheyenne reservation, and an Oklahoma team.
The videos in this collection focus exclusively on Senior Handgames.
