Historic and Battle Sites of the Crow

Historic and Battle Sites of the Crow
This collection details historic and battle sites from the late pre-reservation period of the Crow Indians. As Euro-Americans further encroached on Native peoples lands, buffalo herds and other resources diminished. As a result, this brought Native peoples on in greater proximity to one another which resulted in greater conflict between indigenous communities. The Crows primarily engaged in intertribal warfare with Blackfeet, Lakota, Cheyenne. A great deal of this conflict occurred near the present borders of the current Crow reservation. The videos largely deal with the time period of the 1860s and 1870s when indigenous warfare increased dramatically.
The presenters in the videos bring an abundant amount of knowledge largely passed down via the oral tradition from individuals who lived during the late pre-reservation period. Important battles discussed in the collection include the Battle of Pryor Creek, the Battle of East Pryor Creek, and the Battle of Rainy Buttes. The collection also includes historic sites of the Crows unrelated to the aforementioned battles.
