Summary: 
Sundance was different from today's Shoshoni-Crow; Sioux-Crow Sun Dance; it was not necessarily an annual event; held only when an aggrieved person who had lost a relative in battle asked that a Sundance be held for purposes of revenge on the enemy

After the dance usually within a year, a war party would go out and attempt to avenge the loss by inflicting the same on that same enemy; The Dance also had to be held with 100 buffalo tongues as part of the ceremony
